Mercedes-Benz Will Discontinue Maybach:
The car industry is buzzing with the latest news of discontinuing the Maybach luxury brand. Maybach’s two main models, the Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 did not meet company’s original sales expectations. Many analyst credit Rolls Royce, Machbach’s direct competition with the lack of success for the luxury brand. Mercedes-Benz will be discontinue Maybach in 2013 and will focus on the fifth generation of the S-Class Sedans that will be launched at the same time.
Here’s a look at the Maybach U.S. Sales:
2003: (166 vehicles)
2004: (244 vehicles)
2005: (152 vehicles)
2006: (146 vehicles)
2007: (156 vehicles)
2008: (119 vehicles)
2009: (66 vehicles)
2010: (63 vehicles)
* Never matching the predicted annual sales of 2,000 global units with 1000 coming from the U.S.
Its sad to see the Maybach go considering everyone hopes for it be the main competition and to set the standard for ultra-luxury vehicles. Insiders are saying the new focus on the 5th Generation S-Class will be something special considering it would be the main focus of luxury for Mercedes Benz.
