Elizabeth Taylor Royal Pearl “La Peregrina”:

Here’s a look at the pearl necklace once owned by the legendary actress and socialites Elizabeth Taylor that was recently sold at an auction for an amazing $11.84Million but this piece comes with a unique Regal history.

Depicted in art works over the centuries as “La Peregrina” it was discovered in the 16th Century in the Gulf of Panama. One of the first recorded owners of this prestigious piece was King Philip II of Spain.

It passed on to the Spanish Queens Margaret and Elizabeth, who proudly wore the pearl in 17th Century portraits painted by Velazquez. (The equivalence of a today’s High Fashion Photo Shoot)

In the 19th Century this piece fell into French hands when Napoleon’s brother, Joseph Bonaparte, briefly ruled Spain.

In 1969 this piece was bought for Ms. Taylor be her then husband actor Richard Burton and was modified by French designer Cartier.

This piece has so much history, culture and Royalty in it its 203 Grains (The equivalent to 50 carats).
